about
This is the first song I wrote when I got to college in 2014. I was lost in the world, and I'd just discovered progressive rock, and somehow those two things went hand-in-hand. Little freshman 'Rina would be overjoyed to know that her 27-year-old future self FINALLY finished and released this weird little through-composed thing.
"Time" is a song about the transition between childhood and adulthood, and how jarring and disorienting it can be. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope it gets you super hyped-up for my upcoming album JERSEY: A Prog-Pop Concept Album!
lyrics
Overflowing information
From my brain down to the floor
Could I capture concentration
And hold it close for more than a minute
Watch me fake sophistication
Look at me pretend I’m sure
I don’t remember a moment
The clock strikes two, the clock strikes you
You get back up and follow thru
The hourglass is filled with ashes
I pass away each time time passes
Check my list and all I need is time
Check my wrist and all I need is time
Running faster down the highway
Destination: everywhere
You don’t have to hear what I say
Just let me breathe for more than a minute
The clock strikes two, the clock strikes you
You get back up and follow thru
The hourglass is filled with ashes
I pass away each time time passes
So much at once
So much I’d never expect
I don’t agree with this society in which
We leave our lives behind and friendships hollow
Impossibility laid out in front of me
Picking up all the pieces as I follow
Where has the time gone, time gone, friend?
Didn’t you want this all to end some years ago?
I don’t know
Where has the time gone, time gone, now?
If I had waited there somehow
I’d never know
Yeah
I don’t believe in this society in which
Everyone moves away for no good reason
With no importance placed on anything I’ve faced
Walking out of my hometown felt like treason
Where has the time gone, time gone, friend?
Didn’t you want this all to end some years ago?
I don’t know
Where has the time gone, time gone, now?
If I had waited there somehow
I’d never know
Oh
I need time
Be is all we can do
And it doesn’t matter
Be is all we can do
And it doesn’t matter
Be is all we can do
And it doesn’t matter
