ABOUT THE SONG:
I originally wrote this song on the day my girlfriend's cat passed away, just as the Covid-19 crisis was starting. Everything felt surreal and bleak, but I wanted her to remember that even in the worst of times, I still love her. This song has come to mean more to me after a while: It reminds me that even in a crumbling world, the love we share with our friends, families, significant others, and so on cannot be broken.
lyrics
Saw your heart fall down
I wanna pick it back up off the ground
And hold you near
Keep you safe, my dear
Everything's empty
Everything's closed
Streets are empty and nobody knows
How to function and how not to cry
But I will love you 'til the day I die
Saw this land cave in
Putting these pieces all back, where do we begin?
We'll build a house
From the ash and the rubble we've found
And I speak alone in my bed to
Constellations still over your head
Things have changed, but not you and I
For I will love you 'til the day I die
Oooh, oooh
As the world passes by
I will love you 'till the day I die
